Macmillan Admin & Support Worker
The Macmillan benefits advice service assists people affected by cancer and their families with; disability benefits; other sources of support such as grants and help with health and travel costs; and other advice needs. The Admin & Support Worker is an integral member of the team responsible for processing new clients into the service, undertaking assessments, providing initial advice and progressing the case with colleagues.
Hours: 15 per week (spread across 3 days minimum)
Salary: £19,867 pro-rata
Contract length: 31-12-24 (extension possible)

This is a generalist adviser role with great variety, answering initial queries and supplementing existing advice by telephone.

(Trainee) Litigant in Person Adviser
Our specialist Litigants in Person service is delivered across Somerset. It helps people who have survived domestic abuse to understand their legal rights and navigate the court system, and obtain relevant court orders so they can rebuild safe and strong lives, free from abuse.
Hours: 34 per week (job share considered)
Salary: £22,000 (trainee) rising to £24,012 (qualified adviser) pro-rata
Contract length: 31-5-25 (extension possible)

Debt & Benefits Advisor
The adviser will help clients who have approached the local housing authority for assistance under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. The aim is to address their debt issues in order to help resolve a risk of homelessness, or to increase the client’s chances of securing new housing.
They will also deliver financial education to individuals; this incudes budgeting skills, general money management skills, and opening appropriate accounts. These are preventative and early intervention techniques that will empower the client to help them manage their money and also help stop them getting into a cycle of debt.
We are looking for a Debt Adviser with good interpersonal and IT skills who is happy to work closely with the referrers in the Homelessness Team and with clients in difficult situations. You will also have a commitment to the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice Service.
